Post Election assistance for IDPs

Friday, 22 February 2008 00:00

Following the internal troubles sparked in Kenya following the elections at the end of 2007, Humanity First has been providing assistance in the form of food, clothing and medical assistance to victims in various parts of the country. In the troubles, 1,500 people were killed and 600,000 were displaced. Many crops such as Maize were also destroyed.

Humanity First embarked on a programme to provide assistance to Internally Displaced Persosns (IDPs) across Kenya, and ran camps to provide assistance to over 2,500 IDPs in Nairobi, Kisumu, Nakuru and across Kassarani Division. Dozens of HF volunteers have been working tirelessly with the support of the Police who have provided security and an armed escort to help us reach the needy.
